Relevant Experience:Mr. Michaels practice focuses on civil litigation. Mr. Michaels was admitted to practice in Arkansas in 1998 and is currently admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in Arkansas, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, the Arkansas Supreme Court, the Arkansas Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Michaels’s practice has involved numerous civil cases including real estate litigation, trial practice in federal and state court defending cities and government officials in Civil Rights cases, and advising clients on employment matters. Mr. Michaels was the lead attorney that obtained a defense verdict in jury trial involving a police officer accused of violating the constitutional rights of a minor child who was shot after brandishing a toy weapon. Mr. Michaels’s experience includes serving as lead trial counsel in various other civil matters, ranging from boundary line, access and easement disputes to construction cases involving multi-million dollar developments. Mr. Michaels has served as trial counsel in numerous condemnation matters and has represented clients in complex, multi-party toxic tort cases.
Mr. Michaels graduated Centenary College in Shreveport Louisiana and obtained his law degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where he was Chairman of the Moot Court Board and the winner of the school’s inaugural Moot Court Competition.
In addition to his practice, Mr. Michaels has served as a guest speaker at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law lecturing on legal practice issues and assisting the judging school moot court competitions. When not practicing law, Mr. Michaels enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, playing golf, cycling, and performing as a guitar and bass player with several local music groups.
